Membership
Eligibility of Membership
· Any person possessing major postgraduate medical qualification in Orthopaedic/ Neurosurgery and having interest in the field of Spine surgery
· Admission shall be subject to the rules and regulations of the Society and the mode and conditions of selection to membership shall be determined in accordance with the prescribe bye-laws.
Re Eligibility
Any member who has ceased to be a member by resignation or non-payment of dues can be admitted on fresh application and on payment of dues out standing against him. The executive board may however write off part or whole of the outstanding dues against any such member.
Classification of Members
I. Ordinary Member: FCPS/ M.S/ Equivalent qualification in Orthopaedic or Neurosurgery with interest in Spine surgery.
II. Life Member – Any ordinary member paying Rs. 10000/- as life membership fee or any other amount fixed by the society.
III. Executive Member.-
a: supervisor of FCPS Spine surgery
OR
b: Has completed at least one year fellowship in Spine surgery with “Hands on”
in a structured program
OR
c: Any life member who is performing at least fifty (50) major spine surgeries ( involving fixation using implants), and at least 25 % of this work ( 13 cases) should be deformity correction.
IV. Associate Member- Any Doctor, Paramedic, Nurse, Social Worker, Orthotist, Physiotherapist etc who is involved directly or indirectly in the care of the patients having Spine problem.
Privileges of Ordinary / Associate Membership
The member will enjoy following privileges
i. Participate in all academic activities of the association.
ii. To receive publications of society and use the library and house of society when available.
iii. Any other privileges that may be conferred by the bye-laws of society
iv.
Privileges of Executive Members
i. To Vote in the election for Executive Board in the society.
ii. To contest for the Executive Board of Society of Spine surgeons of Pakistan.
iii. Any other privileges that may be conferred by the bye-laws of society.
Obligations of Membership
A member will be obliged to
i. Do all in his power to promote knowledge and take active part/ interest in the objective and work of the society.
ii. Reply all enquiries and questions as quickly as possible or within the time limit specified.
iii. Keep the society informed of any matter or development which is of interest to the society.
Termination of Membership
i. Resigns and resignation will duly be accepted by the president and confirmed by executive board.
ii. Fails to pay his annual subscription by a certain date determined by the executive board.
iii. Is removed from membership on account of misconduct, disrepute in profession or otherwise infringent of the constitution of society or profession.
iv. Is declared insolvent or insane by the competent authority
v. By removal of his name on ground of conviction in the court-of law within or outside the country, for an offence involving moral turpitude.
